Tony’s trugs are made of a willow rim and handle and the boards which are steamed and bent into the clinker built boat shape, are aspen which is a type of poplar.

This classically beautiful basket is extremely light - approximately 700g or 1.8 lbs- but extremely strong. Trugs are not oiled or varnished or the wood treated in any way. Over time they gain a beautiful patina which adds to their charm. Keep your trug inside and dry although it does not matter if it gets wet during use. Simply wash or wipe out if it gets dirty.

A trug is a traditional gardening tool but it has many other uses. It can hold knitting, magazines, be a dolls bed or place for the cat to nap. As a vessel for arranging flowers and fruit it is superb. For a casual picnic it easily holds bread and wine, grapes and cheeses.
